M.Thamimun Ansari Tamil: எம்.தமிமுன் அன்சாரி is an Indian politician and General secretary of the Manithaneya Makkal Katchi. He is also a former secretary of Tamil Nadu Muslim Munnetra Kazagham. ==Early Life and education== A young, energetic and a New College-Chennai trained, Ansari, is from humble family (a common man’s family) in Thopputhurai of Nagapattinam district. He is a trained and well versed orator, an able administrator, social activist and also a columnist of Tamil weekly -Makkal Urimai (People’s Right). He has also participated in various conferences in Middle East and South East Asia. As a young boy of 14, he developed interest in social activism that ended him in joining in TMMK in 1995. He was instrumental in forming and leading students’ wing of TMMK. In the year of 1997, he had won student union election in New College and subsequently become of its secretary. Then he became of youth face of TMMK. From then, he has been playing a lead role in TMMK’s above stated various social initiatives. M.Thamimun Ansari has been actively involved in non-violent struggle for the rights of minorities especially Muslims in India. He calls for coordination of all Muslim groups in India for positive development. He was a secretary of Tamil Nadu Muslim Munnetra Kazagham for the cause of Tamil Nadu Muslims. He has lead several delegations to the government on issues concerning Muslims. In September 2007, his organization played a crucial role in securing reservations for Muslims in government jobs. Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi attended a TMMK public function and commended its social services. His organization runs around 124 free ambulances in Tamil Nadu. Upon tmmk leaders's appeal thousands of TMMK volunteers involved in rescue work in 2004 when the tsunami struck the state’s coast.
